    Hi All.
I need to buy a dynamo for my 88 engine.
The question are what is the correct or compatible codes and if it must rurn clock or anticlock wise.
The arriw that say the rotation you must see from drive or timing side?
    Thank you
    Piero

You can change the rotation of a dynamo easily.

    Hi.
    Yes.
But what is the correct rotation?.
The same anticlock of the cam or the opposite?
    Thank you.

With a counter gear in there before the dynamo it will be the same as the camshaft gear.

    Sorry but the questions remain.
On the dynamo there is a harrow that give you the rotation.
The arrow mut be seen fron drive side or timing side?
Second, 88 cam turns anticlock: it means that dynamo must turn clock or anticlock.
    Simply questions for simply answer.
    Yes or not, not else.
    Thank you.

I would think you are in the best position to see for yourself, but looking at the drawings I would say clockwise from the drive end. With a 1.25 ratio.

    Piero, going by this picture
    https://www.google.no/search?q=Norton+88+dynamo+model&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=3tm-8yAjeeA46M%3A%2C31yHU5gAn7FevM%2C_&usg=AI4_-kSJcFLEtOJb1VcekOqP5LNScI_5pQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwix3dH7nPLdAhXDESwKHcMaCt0Q9QEwAXoECAYQBg#imgrc=BEhcwIKVD1_UQM:
the dynamo turns clockwise like norton-bob wrote.
The arrow would be at the timing side (ALWAYS LOOK AT DRIVE/DRIVEN SIDE of the equipment ), cfr. markings on a K2F magneto. Markings wouldn't make sense otherwise. However, assuming this is an E3N dynamo, is there an arrow at all? Doesn't it produce power either way?
I would say your focus should be at finding a dynomo with the correct armature .....

Wish I knew what the actual issue was. Is it desire to have the correct arrow?

If Piero wants to perform a perfect restoration, he needs to obtain the correct dynamo. In this italian video, the E3N for a Triumph bike runs CCW as shown by an arrow on the stator housing near the drive end cover. There is probably a version running CW as well. I don't know the significance of the direction sign though and Piero should contact the guy appearing in the video.

The direction of rotation is reversed by swapping over the wires from the field coil, or the wires from the brushes.

    It’s that simple.

Piero: Yes, of course. 6V and approx. 60W. 12V systems came about after 1962, prior to that all bikes had 6V, AMC/Matchless being one of the first to upgrade. You need to download some manuals!

HI Pierodn, Where do you live?, I have a K2F with advance and retard unit that I took off our 67 Atlas,I think it orriginally came from a dommy. I may sell it. It would need an overhaul with a new capacitor and re-magnetise.
