hi I have a April reg 1973 850 interstate engine No302362 is this a mk1 when did the go to black barrels need to touch up paint silver I like the look of black but would prefer to keep it original

All the 1973 850 models had silver cylinders, until somewhere in late 1973.
Yes it is a Mk 1.

LAB will probably be able to quote the engine number changeover point,
but yours is quite early in 850 production.
It must have been purchased not long after they were announced.

No, sorry, I can't, but I'd guess it was either at, or about the time the 850 Mk2/2A models were introduced, so from around 307311.
 
By serial number, my 73 850 is one of the first 500 made, and it came to me with black cylinders. I guess the PO could've swapped (or painted) them at some point.

That would be into Mk 2 territory - which are noted as having black barrels.

308080, Mk 2 also black.

304something was silver
