UH-OH, this thread could go off-topic!

I'm SO glad I'm living debt-free and out of the system. Life is peaceful here, although it's hotter than blazes (literally) and deadly dangerous just across the river in Mexico.

I just want to ride my motorsickle.

Yes it could go off topic but I cant afford a new 961 to join in on that fun .....I could use a bailout ...........

This time last year life was good, between the wife's job and my retirement we were doing fine and I was having fun with the motorcycles ...... now we are squeezing every penny and I may have to go back to a 9-5. Its hot and humid here and this year the mosquitos are the worst I can remember.......havent seen the county foggers rolling down the road either.....oops might get on the wrong track and talk about the government cutbacks

Ill take the mosquitos over gun fire any day but I'm prepared to return fire if needed ...its been a few years since I was last in a fire fight, BUT I this time Ill have them out gunned.

Just buy an old Yamahaha RD 400, mix heavy with Blenzall castor bean oil, and ride around your house a couple times; works like a champ to keep the mosquitos away.

Nice.

I like the look of the drop-center shoulderless rims, have 'em on my Blue bike.

I like the looks of them too, Thanks . I got them from Jeandr but they needed to have a few spokes replaced, so I put off getting the spokes from Buchanan's until I could go over their minimum purchase and get the hubs cleaned up. The spokes came in, but I'm still waiting on the Excel Shouldered rims for the 650SS. They should be here any day.

I kinda enjoyed the build up, I sat on the floor in front of the TV last night watching the depressing news on FOX. The good thing is it kept me from screaming at the Idiots and talking heads, and the wife was happy I wasn't out in the shop.

Did you remove the anodising and polish them up yourself :?: That must have been a big job, but they sure look nice now.

As for politics, all they want is your money, at whatever cost they will get it because usually they are not paying to gouge you. My uncle used to say "vote the incumbent out" but I fear that doesn't work because corruption is everywhere, just be glad it is less in civilized countries.

Jean

I also like the deep drop centers.

Thanks, they do look good if i say so myself. :D

The anodizing is easy to get off. Heat up the rims, I laid them in the driveway for an hour on a hot sunny day (if your wife isn't looking the oven works well too) spray on Easy-Off oven cleaner and let stand for 30 minutes then scrub them down with a wire brush and rinse with water and scour with Scotch Bright, repeat if necessary. :!: CAUTION ! rubber gloves are a MUST!!!!!!!!!!!! unless you don't want fingerprints for some covert operation.

Polishing is just lots of fine sanding and a few hours on the buffing wheel. The hardest part was lacing the Disk Rim, it took me a few try s to get the offset right and I scratched up the rim pretty good and had to re polish it, it went together just fine on the 3rd try.

looks real nice.

I love the sound of helicopters, Spent 30 years in aviation and most of it in helicopters....... I live just 2 miles north of the airport cause I miss it , Besides If there were more helicopters flying over head I'd have a better chance of getting a job.

13 years as an A&P and IA, never worked on heli's. I fly RC ones, that's as close as I got.

I flew RC Helicopters for a few years, but it just got too expensive and labor intensive after a crash. Working on RC helicopters is the same as the real ones ...... not like panes with helicopters parts are parts and you cant just fab up a new one like on pRC planes.

Ruh-roh!

It APPEARS, that on compression, your shock lower pivot point is going to go "over center" and continue it's downward arc; then the shock will rebound, forcing the wheel up into the seat pan.

...or so it would APPEAR, unless you have a positive stop arrangement?

Did I miss the final arrangement of the swingarm spindle?

That's a mock up loose parts picture. ther is much cutting and grinding left. I may end up making a new swingarm. That's a winter project.
