Howdy, all. I have finally started to refurbish my Roadster "ED." This is the first of, I suspect multiple, elementary RFIs [Request For Information] from a, wiser, more Norton experienced, collective whole. OK, OK, I'll get to the point.

I want to install a larger AGM battery, but since my bike is out of town at a friend's, who is also incommunicado, I don't know and can't measure the battery compartment. Might somebody give me the approximate or exact dimensions? I wonder if they are the same as electric start models.

Paul I have a 1970 "S" model with the central oil tank which is the same as the Roadster. My battery tray is 3 1\2" x 6". The fastback model would be a different configuration as would the e-start models.

ZOTZ: Thanks. I'd guess the height would be 7 - 7 1/4 inches? ME THINKS >>> If so, I could put an Odyssey PC545 on its side.

I'd be careful with that 7 1\4" dimension as there are small angular gussets on the sides of the battery tray that you have to maneuver the battery around when you're putting it in.
