Cany anyone supply me with a picture of what the reflector brackets for the undertank reflectors on a '69 "S" look like? They are part number 060695 in the parts book, but they appear to be no longer available. It's not obvious (to me at least) how the factory mounted them and I'd like to replicate something at least close to stock. Thanks.

Nelson

Nelson,
If you are talking about the headlamp and associated mounting parts for the 69-70 S and Roadster this is it:

'69 Commando Reflector Bracket

The parts are now available at Walridge

I have not called Mike about these parts yet, mine are not too bad but have pitting in the chrome, but from about 3 feet look ok.

I have seen the parts available in the past at Norvil UK, but were pretty pricy.

Is your 69 on the road?

Dave
69 registered in 70 "S" Fireflake Blue (unfortunately now black)

No, I'm talking about the reflectors that mount under the tank next to the coils. I've had this bike on the road for about the last 15 years after a bit of a "resurrection". I finally decided last fall it was time to give it a proper restoration and am in the process of reassembly now. It's never had these reflectors since I've had it and I recently found a set of the originals with the wide chrome ring but am not sure how they mount. I just did get the headlight halo round again after all these years and off to the chrome shop for some touch up. Hope to be back on the road by next month.

Hi Nelson,

My parts book for 68-70 Commando shows p/n 06-0890 for front reflector brackets. I looked at Raber's website. These are $1.32 each. www.rabers.com

Just looked up p/n 06-0695. It's the pin to hold the seat knob in place. Likely what you are looking for is 06-0890.

Nelson. I don't have the originals or a foto of my repros at the moment but they are essentially a piece of 1" steel strap, about 16 to 18ga, bent into an "L" shape, with radiused ends, a 5/16 hole on the tank end and a 3/16 (I think) hole on the reflector end. The "L" is shorter on the tank leg in order to tuck it in under the tank and the reflector end is only long enough to give some clearance between the tank and the reflector. I fabbed mine out of stainless and bead blasted them. Hope this helps. Those reflectors aren't easy to find....

The reflectors can be had from a camping-car or trailer accessory shop, in both red and orange, only difference is you have to add a bolt and nut as they have a fixing hole in the middle.

Yes, I put in the wrong part number. 060890 is correct. So the bracket mounts at the front tank mount? That should be simple enough to fabricate, but it sounds like I should check with Rabers. Thanks all.

The brackets mount under the beneath the rubber grommet and serve as a washer for the lock nut that holds the front of the tank on. I painted my brackets with some aluminum paint. Here's a pic of the parts.
