4th gear sleeve bushes?

How much play is to much play, or should they both be snug.

High gear bush fitted I.D.: = 0.8133" - 0.8120"

Mainshaft diameter: = 0.8105" - 0.8095"



0.8133" (max. bush dia.)
- 0.8095" (min. shaft dia)
_______
= 0.0038" (max. clearance)

Any play exceeding 0.0038" (nearly 4 thou) will be too much.

L.A.B. would you happen to know...

You provided the diameter (tolerance) on the mainshaft journal (for the sleeve gear bushings).
Would you happen to know the diameter (tolerance) for the journal on the layshaft where first gear and the layshaft bushing ride??

My manual only lists bushing I.D. fitted diameters, but no journal diameters. :shock:

I may be looking for better shafts.

According to the information I have:

Layshaft diameter - kickstart end = 0.6855"/0.6845"
