Having some issues with this, never really liked to work on it, but.... needs to be fixed. So I wonder; if there´s too much movement up/down with the pawl and carrier, before the ratchet spring and plate are in place probably because the "tang" on the stop plate is worn, could that affect the gear selection? The gearchange return spring does not sit tight against the "tang" on the stop plate, you can see clearly that it is worn. There´s almost a 3/32" play (over 2mm). Would it help if I replace the spring and stop plate?

If you PM me your email address I'll sent the OldBritts gearbox maintenance guide which I think will be helpful.
Cheers
