1st Gear Clutch Issue

Many possibilities here. Loose clutch hub nut is one that comes to mind. Disassembly and inspection are in order. If you're not equipped to dig deeper, bribe a mechanic friend, or get the help of a qualified mechanic.

Just the standard rubber, filed-down.

Poked around and replaced the outer cover, put gear shifter plate in the proper place. Everything is as was still the problem of not being able to disengage the clutch. Suppose I'll start over by trying to adjust from push rod screw.
 
If any system SUDDENLY needs a LARGE "adjustment", you can be sure an adjustment will not remedy the problem. :idea:
