I think the conversation is slightly retarded and should be advanced to eliminate any future predicaments. Lol!
 
My parts came back from the polisher. There you go grandpaul, lined up before and after. H and H Polishing, Charlotte NC. Thanks grandpaul.

I'm on call at my work until Monday morning so I probably won't get much work done on the bike until then. Sucks. We'll have to see.

Yep, they're great to work with; In the $250 neighborhood?

You did OK matching the layout (almost, calipers are stood up), and the towels are laid differently...

H and H were great to work with, $250, I wish. A bit more but worth it in my opinion.

I didn't notice the calipers, damn it! Getting a little nitpicky about the towels though. Lol!
 
It's so nice to see someone else plow through one of these garage finds. Everything other than that front master looked to be in pretty fair shape.
 
Progress today. First off I installed a circlip into the inner of my pistons, installed the rings and inserted into the cylinders, anti seized and installed my cylinder base studs, gooped up one side of the gasket and installed. Inserted deepwell sockets over the studs then positioned the cylinders on the sockets and raised the rods into the pistons. I then inserted the frozen wrist pins and circlips. After that I painted up the other side of the gasket, removed the sockets and carefully installed the cylinders to the base. Anti seized all stainless fasteners and torqued to specs. Whew! Kinda rough balancing all that with two hands but I got it done. I'm happy.

Make sure oil drain hole is goop free
Cometic base gaskets are no goop required and reusable.

That engine is begging for one of my reed valve breathers... (before you install the timing cover and ignition, much easier to keep chips out of the works)

Is this your fix for wet sumping?

It's a one-way breather which won't fix wet sumping. Also as it's a Mk3, that breather will clash with the standard Prestolite starter motor if fitted as shown* and likely to prevent the starter motor from being fitted or removed with the primary case in position as the gap is needed to withdraw the starter gear from the primary case.

Good catch, it needs to be an in-line breather.
 
More progress. Put my timing side together today. Cleaned and primed the oil pump and replaced the rubber seal. Adjusted slack from the timing chain and installed the outer cover. I then installed the timing portion of my new Power Arc electronic ignition system from Old Britts. Painted the Norton logo with Rustoleum and cotton swabs. Not too bad. I like it.
