Hi.
Atlas come to me without rotor and rotor nut.
The Atlas rotor nut is flat without the tube (lo ger for Commando and smaller for P11/N15) that you screw into the rotor/crankshaft.
The queztion is if the Atlas rotor nut is flat it means that the stock rotor was internal smaller than later or was the same
If are the same the rotor doesnt dance on the cranckshaft?
I will use a later rotor; is better to use with P11 or Commando rotor nut?
Thank you.
Piero

If I remember correctly, my original Atlas rotor was smaller internal diameter. I now use a Commando rotor with a Commando nut having the "tube" extension.

Hi Slick,
you solved my question.
Thanks.

I thought they were the same size and the Commando sleeved nut was used because the triplex chain sprocket made the rotor stick out further than the bikes with simplex chains.

This may be true ..... I may not remember correctly ......

The Commando rotor certainly does stick out further on a Commando, over the threaded part of the drive end of the crankshaft, which is why the sleeve is necessary. Unfortunately, I do not have my original rotor to refer to.

In my case, I am using the Commando stator mount which pushes the rotor outboard, requiring the sleeved nut.

Sorry for any confusion.

All NHT rotors are dimensionaly the same 3/4"/19mm ID and 74mm OD by 1.4"/35mm wide.

atlas and commando cranks are dimensionaly the same, only the angle of the alternator keyway is different.

I fitted a modern alternator to my 99 and needed a shim behind the rotor to get it central in the stator, probably not that impoertant tho.

I completely agree.
The rotor are all the same: bur Atlas has a flat rotor nut, P11/N15 have a rotor nut with short tube, Commando with long tube.
Rotor on Atlas with flat nut doesnt leave the rotor dance around the cranckshaft or the key is enough?.
I think is better to fit the P11 rotor nut with tube.
