I agree, bar ends are good for clip ons or similar, but on higher and wider bars they really inhibit filtering.I have Bumm mirrors on my bike. Great for a rear view.

(I did need to shorten the end of the stem and cut a 3/8 UNF thread in order to screw it into the top of the master cylinder)
In practical terms, I like short stem mirrors to keep the handlebar width down, bitd I used the bikes for commuting and the narrower width was better when riding in traffic.

I always need to rememberSometimes a better rear view can be had by mounting mirrors under the bars, the rear view is between thigh and arm, rather than past upper arm and shoulder
