Yes, it fits through the spring fine. I did think I might have had to grind the corners off the nut but there was no need.

Looks like a Triumph cylinder barrel to crank case stud nut to me ? They have smaller spanner (wrench) size than would be normal for the thread size.

Hmm, not sure, it had nuts like that, but I think they were 5/16 ?

Weren’t they 12 point anyway? Can’t remember now as it’s long gone. It’s irrelevant anyway, it’s a nut that works regardless of where it came from, sorry I even mentioned it.

I had to use it today.

To R&R the kickstart spring I use a piece of thin nylon string ( I call it surveyor's string, available everywhere ) , make a loop, slip it over the main hook and it's off in a second or two. Same with installation.

I'm guessing drive chain adjustment

It's for servicing the rear isolastic. It will take the load off the long bolt to enable withdrawal, then can be extended to lower the cradle to below the frame lug.
It avoids jacking and blocking

Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you the Bonzo Jnr SSASP (Stubborn Swing Arm Spindle Persuader).



Of course, you need to remove the primary, but when the extractor bolt just won't budge the pin...



Heat up the assembly, insert the SSASP...



...and give it a couple of whacks with a FBH and the old spindle is out



Big love to our youngest who knocked this out in his lunch hour about 12 hours after I'd asked him if he could make something up for me
