explanation please

I'm looking at a brand new pair of peashooters on a 750 which are highly muzzled. Inside is a baffle plate with a hole no bigger than a dime...who makes these? I'm very surprised they are made in this day and age. Atlases have the same restrictor plate and run much better after a hole saw takes it out. Also tuning is easier. Anybody know the history of these?

Don't know but not EMGO. Is the restrictor removable (held in by a single screw)? Any other details? Just guessing that they could be NOS originals.

The restrictor is NOT removeable. No other details. I'm not exaggerating when I say the hole is the size of a dime.

Many silencers are made in the Far East by small companies who have NO knowledge of (or care for) what was ever inside the OEM versions.

At least with peashooters we can actually see inside them to check these things.

I would not use the ones you describe.

There was an early 'S' type peashooter with a baffle but not what you describe.

Picture of original 'Peashooter' off a 69 'S' the one in my avatar, I think these are called baffles or maybe flutes? Pic from the input side. Unless my interpretation of 'Peashooter' is wrong. I actually haven't looked in the replacements I got from Xanders many years ago.

And actually the output side had a real baffle near the widest spot in the tube.

I know your supposed to be able to turn on one but can't imagine they are the same dimes.

Sounds like OEM mufflers from the mid 70's. If you bought a new peashooter muffler for your Commando in the USA from the local Norton dealer in, say, 1975, that's what you would have received. There was no removable baffle.
