I'm in need of a new pair of 6v coils to use with a Boyer setup
What are the new type Lucas ones like?
I've had pvl coils in the past that have only lasted just over a year
I've had made in Taiwan coils that lasted a similar time
What are people using that's available in the UK

You're not over-torquing the clamps are you?
They've got some ridiculously low torque value - in the inch-pounds, so below 1 ft.lb
That'll kill 'em every time!
Cheers

Maybe I should have added that the pvl coils that failed were on my BMW and were twin pole but I wasn't very happy that they lasted just over a year so I didn't fancy buying pvl again
On my Norton I had one Lucas coil fail but that was 50 years old so not a surprise
I replaced both coils for pattern copies made in Taiwan I believe and they didn't last
So I dug through my box and found an old pair of Lucas coils that are on there running fine
But I now need to get a set for another bike

Fit a double ended coil, proper mounting points and encapsulated windings for reliability
Which one do you recommend for a Boyer black box?
I have a Boyer double pole but I think it's only recommended for a blue box?

The last Dyna coil I used created over heating issues in my Boyer box, minimum ohms is 3, dyna labelled it as 3 but it measured 2.9. 20 mins in hot weather was enough to turn the box off, 10 mins sitting by the roadside got me 15 mins running time etc etc. Fitted a cheap Harley twin coil with 3.5 ohms and problems gone.

Hi Baz, I have the 12 volt dual lead coil on my 750, with Classic twin ignition. 3800 miles so far, all good. Graham

I use the green 3 ohm dyna coil which is a dual lead single coil with the boyer micro digital ignition (red box) I've used the same coil for over 35 years. I've seen 2 types. One has the molded plastic ports coming off the coil at an angle and the other has the 2 ports perpendicular to the coil. I have the latter version. I suppose I should test the resistance and report back to see if it's below 3 ohms now just to verify it's resistance

New coils

I have had 1 of these fitted for the last 4 years matched to my trispark big fat sparks and easy starting

I also have that green 3 ohm Dyna coil, in a Wassell/Vape electronic ignition.

When live with engine off, 2 amps go through it.
