I received an email to tonight confirming that Solihull is back in business and keen to, where possible, help with 961 parts etc.
They did say that records from their predecessors range from poor to non existent so there may be limits on what the can help with. No great surprise there, but good to hear the positive approach.

Ok thats good. I called the other day and am on a waiting list. There should still be people there that are aware of the faults on the 961 and how to fix them. If I could take it there and get the necessary work done, I would be a happy bunny. But if I could fix some myself in the meantime, great.

This new guy will most probably have his inbox crash tomorrow haha
Ive replied, as Ive got a list of parts I could do with. Got a few customers booking in for end of August, so trying to prep now....so if Norton cant help, I'll have to carry on as I was and seek alternatives.

If they don't help you with parts, we can give them some stick, it would be in their interests that Norton riders can keep riding their Nortons, the new owners may not have made them but the market won't see it like that.

I agree. No matter what era Norton someone is riding.....its still a Norton on the road and still brand loyalty that they're showing. If its broken and sat in the garage...its one less Norton spotted in the petrol station, a t junction or a bike meet. Thats one less rolling advert. And when their mates ask why's he out on his Kawasaki again and not his Norton, and he says its broken and he's struggling to get parts...none of those guys are likely to go and buy one when they're available again.
But, being all optimistic...lets see where this new guy takes us.

Totally agree but sometimes these new CEO's come in all guns blazing and want to bury the past but you cannot with a brand like Norton. If I was CEO i would have conducted some market research before taking on the job. I do hope the V4 issue gets resolved in a satisfactory way for all. Then there is a commando issue to sort, maybe profitably and a lot of good PR in the process.

Me too !!
I also received a letter of Norton saying there back in business at the new factory it's the same one I had in March it seem's to be just a generic letter to keep us all waiting. Wish they would pull there finger out as I just need a few parts. Using Oliver at Theil motor sport and CNW and getting more sense out of those good people.

The email I received was different . It asked me what parts I needed and to send them a list with year/model of bike .

Mine was also the standardised email...but tweeked by quoting my previous part number requests. This guy will be mega busy, so I'm open to give him time to respond etc

Yep, got to think the original setup was a cluster which they’ve been dealing with during Covid and who knows what else by way of internal pressures. I’d much rather they opened up when they have all of their ‘shit in one sock’ as they say. Easy to say when you have other rides of course. I will continue to limit the mileage I put on my Norton until full(ish) support is returned.

Hello S. Bodycote , Do you have part numbers ? That was something I never had was access to the Norton part numbers .

Ok, get Norton to just confirm these as the BOM is always a bit vague with descriptions & no image hyperlinks ie its not like looking at a parts screen, it's literally just a list of all everything including suppliers etc.
But, I've got 1x Central Mount Bush 6200014, 2x Exhaust Bush 6200012 & 4x Exhaust Clamp Silencer 43-47mm SS 6200327.

Thats perfect , I will copy and paste this in my email to Norton . Thanks !

No worries, as I say though, get them just to confirm. The centre mount bush sounds right, and its listed as one per bike, along with being the same supplier as the other exhaust rubbers...so should be right. The clamps are fairly generic though, supplied by Zero Clips.
