I'm going to weigh my commando today it's a 750 with an Alton starter ,my mate has a set of race car scales so it should be fairly accurate
Out of interest I was trying to find the wet weight of a stock 750 roadster
And a stock MK3 850
According to Google the weights are all over the place!!
I've seen a MK3 listed at 492 lb and 514lb etc
Does anyone have genuine info on the weights of a stock 750 roadster and a MK3 roadster?
I'm also running a sweep on what my bike actually weighs ?
It has a belt drive ,apprilia pegaso wheels ,yam forks/yokes Alton starter, bigger battery etc so not standard by any means
I'm hoping it's under 450lb
Cheers

5.5 UK Gals (some Interstate tank capacities) weights 40lbs, so lots of scope for empty vs full weights.
I'm guessing that's where some of the differences are so I'm looking specifically at the roadster
Cheers

When I had my bike registered here in Denmark, the idiot tester insisted that I had to get a weighbridge ticket before he would issue the MOT. I think that the PR seat and tank confused him, since he would not accept the figures in the factory manual.
Anyway, off I trundled and had the bike weighed. Problem was that the weighbridge is intended for trucks weighing in at tens of tons, so it was way off its calibrated range. The display varied from 180kg to 240kg, so the operator grinned and asked me what I would like on the form. I ended up with a round 200 kg.
That was for an 850 with alloy rims, RGM floating disk, fiberglass front mudguard, tank and seat, clipons, foam air filter.

I _think_mine is around 390 lbs now, possibly a bit less, but I'm not certain.

My 71 Roadster was weighed at the drag strip - totally stock bike - 402 lbs with about a gallon of fuel.

So my bike came in at 200.5 kg or 442lb with a full tank of fuel

Thanks for sharing this. I've been curious myself about mine and always surprised that they are as light as they are.

You squeaked in just under your hopeful 450 lbs!

I used to think that any moto over 400 lbs was too heavy! My 71 Commando JUST fit into that range. Now I have adjusted my thinking that any Moto over 500 lbs is too heavy. My '17 BMW R1200RS confirms that. At around 530 it is much too heavy; I'd be happy to see it sold. My '18 Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe is 475 and is OK. But I still prefer the Norton to anything else because of its weight and ease of 'horsing' it around.

Totally agree. I went with the 2012 BMW G650GS Sertao instead of the 1200. There are some compromises with the smaller machine (namely range), but the upside is I can usually pick it up myself.

I'd still like to know the weight of a MK3 roadster with a full tank of petrol to see how mine compares?
As my bike seems to be morphing into a MK3 ,ie electric foot assist ,disk front and rear, adjustable ISOs , MK3 timing cover
I just don't have the left hand gear change

As a side note I checked my bike with the bathroom scales
And with the bike chocked level for the front and the rear weight it came in at 436lb
So 6lb lighter using the bathroom scales method ?
I think I trust the race car scales more than the bathroom??
