Charging issue.

Symptoms
Rebuilt bike
Positive earth
New electrics
New 12v battery
Boyer ignition 6 volt coils in series
New 3 phase generator producing 20v ac
New 3 phase regulator no z diode etc. producing 15-18 v from output wires
Solid state warning light assimilatior

Bike runs beautifully, connect the regulator to the battery, red to earth, black to positive ….. the fuse blows put a new fuse in and the regulator produces no power and is fu.ked

Im sure it’s something simple BUT WHAT Arrrrrrrrrrrrh

Any advice would be good

Simon

You released magic smoke when you connected the wrong way round. Its always red to +ve and black to negative regardless of -ve or +ve earth, identify the fried component and replace. Reconnect the wires the right way.

My understanding is the regulator can be positive or negative by swapping the red and black wires. Red Is earth and black is positive on positive system

Rectifier Regulators are cheap even 3 phase.

The 3 yellow wires go to the 3 alternator wires, they are not fussed about which wire goes to which. Red goes to +ve and green goes to -ve.

Red=Positive, Black=Negative on the regulators I know of. In a positive ground (earth) system, Red is ground (earth) and goes to the + battery terminal. If I'm reading what you wrote correctly, you are connecting the regulator backwards.
