Modern electronics are fine, but for the 'classic' experience you cant beat two foot of twisted steel with three tines on the end...

Got the same one, best ever, 100% even browing and has a crumpet mode for gently warmed bottom and crusty hot top for the butter to melt on.
And I bet it was so good it has been discontinued for something as the sales people say is "superior" in every way....
It like vacuum cleaners.... the EU has banned Hi suction/Hi power consumption models....excuse me what is a vacuum cleaner for???....the poxy VAX model we have is yes. light, quite....but won't pick up a bloody thing!!!!!!
Sorry....

I started keeping my spend on a spreadsheet...then I realised how much this figure actually was...and the current Mrs B could easily view this..... needles to say I quietly binned that idea:D
:D Very wise..........

Now you got me bloody started...

That vacuum cleaner law is a classic case of inept bureaucracy failing to think through the practicalities and untended consequences of their actions.

I can see the suits in a room now “at a 30 min run time the average vacuum cleaner uses X amount of energy. If we reduce the power consumption by Y then at the same 30 minute run time we will reduce overall consumption by, blah, blah”

What they missed is that with the reduced motor, the suction will be less, so people will have the bloody things switched on LONGER.

Pricks.

And people wonder why we get pissed off with the EU and it’s incessant need to meddle in the minutia of our lives !?

The ban can be circumvented, just add the word industrial and you will find plenty of proper high suction vacs.

This is the one I use

Even worse is the kettles, water is water, use 500W to heat 1L of water and it takes 5 mins, 1000W takes 2.5mins. No amount of greenwash changes that. I am certain the hidden agenda is to reduce the peak energy usage not the amount of energy so the intermittent solar panels and wind turbines have a higher probability of working.
