Yep I know it wasn't a clear cut case but at the end of the day if they weren't in his house they wouldn't have been shot

I wasnt specifically thinking of TM ,but at the time he was presented as a have a go hero by the tabloids. In reality one suspects he was frightened and at his wits end having suffered a number of breakins , and tabloid
law and order shit did him no favours in the courts.

There are those who not only feel thay have an inalienable right to take the piss, they get very upset if this is called into question by those whom they think are 'lesser' or 'weaker'.

I suppose if so confronted ,we all have to make our own judgement calls,the only certainty is that no one will agree with you, especially galling when coming from people who have no experiance of being so threatened or idea of what is like .

On a less serious note.. Has anyone in the UK received their letter from Boris yet? Poor old boy must have wrist ache writing to us all, not too sure if him licking all those stamps is overly hygienic either (or will Cummins offer his tongue?) Just hope it doesn't pop on the doormat on April 1st, the coincidence would be too much to bear...
 
This COVID-19 pandemic is resembling a Stephen King novel more and more each day. Now Trump is saying 200,000 deaths, if we are lucky, in the US alone. I THINK there is a zero missing in Trump’s estimate. Hope I am wrong. If you just figure 1% percentage of population that might die, then 2,000,000 is the more probable figure than 200,000.

There is way too much conflicting news, advice, opinion etc. for anyone to have a reliable picture (even if that were possible) Latest headline here is: 'Virus outbreak in UK showing signs of slowing down...' HM Queens son and heir is fit and well after being diagnosed with it then 'self isolating' for a week and working from home! Yet these sit cheek by jowl with other stories showing emergency hospitals being built, warnings that 'six months' social distancing may not be enough... You wouldn't want to bet on the outcome, but you'd sure love to know.... (or at least be around to see it!)
 
When the weather forecaster predicted rain and you are drenched, you might well believe him/her.

Jim, you are focused on the wrong numbers here! The president has clearly stated that the only RISING numbers we should be concerned with are his daily viewers!

Meanwhile. Our Mr.T. today announced a new plan that provides 75% of worker salaries to be sent directly to employers for distribution. Stern warnings not to abuse this benefit. Keeps people in their jobs or re-hired if already laid off. This is in addition to a 70% EI benefit for unemployed due to COVID.

Have not heard of such evolving plans in the US. Is there much more for workers than the one time cheque of 1400 signed by Trump?
 
One time 1200$ check. Equal to 1 months pay at federal minimum wage of 7.50/hr.

Sounds unlivable right? That's because federal minimum wage is UNLIVABLE.

Those on unemployment will receive an extra $600 per week. THIS is what will sustain people. Republicans argued that the unemployed don't deserve it.

When unemployed workers are given money to sustain themselves that means there is less money to give executives and stockholders. A Republican’s idea of capitalism is to lavish praise and money upon the already wealthy, but denigrate and shit on the less than wealthy.
