That's the guy from Red Max Speedshop in Dunkeswell (near Honiton). Didn't he pull a 961 apart some years ago after having problems with it, and rebuilt it into a flat tracker.

Yes. It was called ‘The Swindler’.........
 
In the timing case , behind the round cover with 4 screws holding it .

This unit is different

The engine is a Dreer 961 Prototype, with a different timing cover - see the round "points" cover on the front.
The Dreer prototypes had the ignition rotor on the end of the camshaft.
Not sure where the oil filter was located on the prototypes.

Thanks. That’s my point. Don’t see where the oil filter is. Unless the whole side cover needs to be removed?

Maybe the H-D sportster concept of attaching the oil filter on the chassis was adopted for these early prototypes
