Had to buy my third set of pistons yesterday  The machinist found a spot that will require a + .060 bore. Now I have a set of new .020's and .030's :( that's about $200 tied up that I really needed for the project. Talk about yer black cloud days

Not his fault. Hit a carbon void during the bore for the .030 set that requires .060.... If I was working it wouldn't matter that much. Funds are a little on the tight side since I had to retire.

Fill the carbon void with silver solder and hone it. You will never know it was there. Jim

sometimes the voids are small enough to be of no consequence, filled or not.
I had some hidden water damage in one of 8 bores, the rest were perfect. Cleaned it up the best I could with a hone and some crocus cloth, arranged the ring gaps to miss the damage and life went on just fine. This was for my then daily driver car.
Perfection is nice to pursue but often not necessary.
If you trust the person doing the holes is knowledgeable enough to know, then by all means go the new pistons again.
Sometimes it's just not a showstopper.
Best of luck whichever way you choose.
