Question about Brexit

In Australia and Sydney and Melbourne in particular, our housing Ponzi scheme is based upon immigration. Immigrants bring money and buy our houses, as long as you don't accept genuine refugees. Most of our immigrants arrive by plane - we hate boat people because they usually have no money, so have to be supported on welfare.

That’s true Jim, but perhaps not in this case. For Truman it was all about watching TV - what else is on? For Brexit the focus was all about leaving the EU which crippled parliament from dealing with other issues, hence what else is happening and what do we need to deal with?

In a nutshell, that’s it!
The Conservative party were (are) divided over Europe and the threat of ever more centralisation by the EU. That, coupled with freedom of movement, especially recently from the newer members of the EU - Poland and 9 other states, 8 of which were formally from the communist block in Eastern Europe - allowed specific politicians and parties to focus on division and misinformation (they took our jobs!).
It is a full turn around, in the original in/out referendum in 1975, the Conservative party campaigned. To remain and Labour campaigned for leaving - the mirror image of the 2016 referendum.
There are of course many other issues involved but the Conservative party divisions were the driving force.

Don't know where you get that from as if you only read the bad news about coloured people half the daily bread in London and elsewhere are baked by Indians (of all nationalities) the Greeks, French, and all the others have their own restaurants, we have temporary workers coming in to pick the farmers crops, plus all the foreign tourists that keep the hotels open and people in employment, I could go on but at the risk of offending someone who I might have missed out, I don't think I could.

I agree, unfortunately a lot of the rhetoric around the 2016 referendum was focussed on uncontrolled immigration- remember the Farage escalator image? It was bullshit, but taken as true by a lot of people, especially by those around the coastal areas.

I see that the EU don’t want to do any trade deals already- nothing changed there then. We will just have to impose heavy import fees on German cars, 20 minutes later Angela Merkel will be on the phone to the EU about not being able to sell cars in the UK.

see where you are coming from. no idea if you live in the south east. I do. can't bloody move for immigrants. not prejudice. a fact. sick of being gagged in my own country by left wing students and campaigners who don't seem to be paying tax to finance this ridiculous good will!!!!

Rubbish. Have you considered this will hurt british motorists first? I can't see this happen.

For the time being it's free trade as before. I don't believe there has been an official statement by EU on the possibility of reaching a trade agreement. Michel Barnier expressed doubts that an agreement will be negotiated in just 11 months, and most observers seem to support this view. Brace yourself for a hard brexit!

Don't kid yourself. There is lot to be said about toilet paper. Do you know how many tons are consumed in Europe (incl. UK) each year? 6,35 million metric tons! And what happens to the tissue once it is in the suer? And what is the effect on wastewater? How much recycled paper should be allowed, to make tissues userfriendly?
