Hi Gents
This question is more aimed at UK members.... i want to fit a period registration plate so black plate with silver letters/numbers.
To give a more modern feel, id also like to have an acrylic plate
Getting one of these is fairly easy ... but the matter that so far has me stuck is i want a slogan at the bottom

Do any of you guys have a recommendation for a company that can make a black acrylic plate and able to include a slogan??

Thank you

Did the UK Commandos have a black ID plate? Everyone in the US is red on aluminum.

That’s the VIN plate on the headstock...

He’s taking about the registration, or number, plate. The one that’s mounted below the tail light.

Ah, that one got passed me. Had forgotten UK owners have to make the license plate. US states issue them.

Yep some people make their own number plates
It's compulsory over here for pikeys to make there own

I have restored my own plate, my B44 came with a Shield type one fitted so I refurbed the steel Shield and had it powdercoated black and applied white numerals.

Commercial one with raised letters in silver, mine were White vinyl stickers

Registration Plate Question

In the US it varies from state to state what your options are, but the state DMV issues them. Here in CT they offer a classic or vintage plate option for vehicles over 25 years old which "freezes" the assessment value at $500, which is what the property tax is based on. They also let you choose custom registration numbers and have a search function online to see if it's available. Next time due I'm going to get 850NTN as my number.

Yes someone other than the government has to make a UK plate. We have prison inmates to make license plates...probably not any longer.

Due to the number of 'false' plates used on vehicles, modern UK reflective plates must be made by a registered number plate supplier.

The actual UK plate (or front and rear plates on a car etc.) isn't part of the vehicle's 'licence/license', therefore, it doesn't have to be periodically renewed and although there are exceptions a vehicle usually keeps the same 'registration mark' throughout its life and can have the same number plate/s (unless replaced due to damage etc.) from when first registered to when it is scrapped.

A loophole in the law allows vehicles registered as 'historic' (40+ years old) to have old-style (pre-73) black and white or black and silver number plates but the registration mark remains the same.

Letters White vinyl stickers it is forbidden in France for cars or motocycles.

In France also for collector (grey card collection is more than 30 years of age)

Wow , over here on this side of the pond a custom numbered/lettered plate will cost you an extra $200. I inquired about my preferred choice . NORT01 -Taken. SNORTON1-Taken. NORTER1-Taken. Then I said "enough of this" and settled for a regular plate.
Many plates have failed the physical endurance test over here of recent. They got rid of metal plates with painted blue letters and numbers. The new ones were plasticized with a film that crumbled in our climate fast and took the paint off with it. Many justifiably complained but no refund , just buy another at full price until finally they realized there was a big problem .

It's possible to buy a personalised registration in the UK which can cost from a few hundred pounds to many thousands of pounds.
