Hi All
Am i correct that there are two "O" rings below each of the headlamp support brackets??
Or is the AN page showing them there to show that two on each leg are fitted... one above & one below brackets

Thanks

Hi olimpus,

Andover Norton drawing is correct. Two O rings at bottom and one at the top from memory, be careful not to disturb them when fitting the brackets or they will rattle for evermore.

Use on late commando lite bracket and also on amal carbs, so I got a bag of 50:
In the USA McMaster Carr:
Quad X orings AN dash 028 1-3/8 1-1/2 1.364" 1.504" Durometer 70A (Medium) ASTM D2000,
SAE AS568, SAE J200 -30° to 225° Black 50ea pn 90025K424 US$9.77

Good luck installing them. Another piece of "brilliant" engineering. cNw headlight ears make life much more bearable.

I used LAB's advice on fitting - with the stanchions out, relax the big nut securing the lower yoke and twist the yokes so that you can partially fit the stanchions, then the two o rings, then the bracket. Realign yokes and fit top o ring over uppermost part of stanchion then pull the assembly together. Hoping the o rings stay in the yoke grooves is a recipe for much frustration. Make sure the brackets are round the right way - I fitted mine the wrong way years ago and only recently corrected it

After many years , I finally got an aftermarket set of ears , emgo polished alloy with rubber cushions ,nice , simple easy install , look better to IMHO .....

As part of the basket case i obtained it came with 2 brand new RGM alloy bell mouths, 2 Brand new RGM clip ons & 2 brand new RGM café racer stainless headlamp supports...
I offered these up but in standard fettle it looks just wrong.... i wont be fitting any of the above, so there'll all need a good home:)

Thanks Les... i do wish the AN site would display the actual number of components required as OE fitment

It's a 1000 times less frustrating if you tie the headlamp back out of the way, put the top yoke in place, then away from the bike slide the legs into the bottom yoke nip up the clamp hex keys until they only just hold the legs, lube the upper section then assemble the o-rings, ears (why are they called ears?) & top o-rings. Then after putting the bottom stem nut & lockwasher somewhere you an easily reach them (pocket maybe) bring the forks into position and once the stem is through the bottom yoke get the washer & nut on a few turns. Everything is then in place, and you can adjust and tighten as necessary.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

cliffa.
