What the ??

New plugs and breathing equipment arrived today, BMC filter was last one in AUS allegedly, thought Id go something other than K&N sure I read a post about BMC from another fine chap on the forum.

Just waiting on a new BOSCH coil and lead set.

My foray into the crank breather project has stalled as the reed valve I found in the states is out of stock for a couple of weeks. Plan is to use something similar to Mr JWilson with oil/moisture capture, + crank negative pressurization (although as per others this was only a thing on older engines) and fed back to the air box, also sourcing some stainless braided tubing.

Richard-7 recommended the Iridium plugs, even mentions in the blurb about assisting idling, also went on about flame creation with its precious metal tip. !! fascinating

Anyone know if the standard crank sump plug for a 2015 961 is of the magnetic type ?

looking at these online but unsure and wont be dropping the oil for a little while to work out for myself.

Thanks

Ok so there are 2 Charging cables, as I mentioned found this one when I was moving the one that was tied to the clutch hydraulic cable

A lot of owners don’t realise that the factory fitted a charging lead, so they fit another one.

Or, some folk fit Shoria batteries that use a different type of charger and hence require a different charging lead.

Ok Cool, both my Ducati and this Nort have been fitted with the same connector,(I re routed the cable to the back opposite site of the original) perhaps an AU market thing, ill check out the wiring and if I can get a connector to fit the Nort factory one Ill remove the other.

Thanks for the info.

Mine came new with the SAE and the one tucked in the frame. Guessing my dealership didn't know it was there either.

Anyone done an oil change and can advise if the OEM sump plug is magnetic please ?? I'm guessing it is but replacement is $56usd so just asking before I waste money

So I noticed today that the right hand (rear sprocket side) short exhaust pipe was closer to the frame/wheel than the left hand pipe

Is this normal or should they be equally positioned ??

On further inspection it does seem that the right hand exhaust(muffler) hanger bracket is flatter than the left,

If its not right ill bend the bracket this weekend but thought id put it out there as my OCD is getting the better of me.

I think your OCD has tighter tolerances than the Norton factory!

With the pipes, it’s surprising how much difference can be made to the fit and positioning of them by loosening off all the joints and shuffling things around.

When I fitted my Thiel Motorsport ‘silencers’ I initially thought they didn’t fit well. I removed them, and the de cat link pipe, cleaned, lubed and reassembled the joints and then slid them in / out and shuffled things around until I got a perfect fit.

Hilarious Clive !! o_O

Took them apart, cleaned and re sealed, adjustments done, hanger is still pulling the right toward the bike a bit but the level either side's smack on now.

Not even going to start on the tiny leak on once side, that's for my shrink to assist with.........

The right side of my SBN pipes is a wee bit higher than the left. Also, I'm one of the few with SBN pipes that never had the chain cutting into the pipe.

My first gen SBN exhaust is a chain scraper on the right side.
I use two radiator clamps on the silencer in the effected are to "absorb" the abuse of the chain.
Just poorly designed right side can and pipe.

It's only a temporary solution until Theil has the 2-into-1 replacement system available.
FE says that will be soon, and I choose to believe him.
Any day now, right Nigel?

Yes, any day. Just remove ‘now’ from the sentence...

Seriously it seems Ollie is have to do a lot more work, in order to get it to perform as desired, than initially envisaged.

You might wanna buy in a few more hose clamps...

Soo, I think I got it leveled, left bracket has a small fold that obviously off-sets it 5-7mm, right bracket is near flat.

Man OCD is painful but rewarding Hahaaaa....

I just don't get that. I had Gen 1 SBN and now Gen 2 and neither scrape. I bought the Gen 2 (no X pipe) and there is a knock on it from the previous owners chain, so I'm guessing the success was mounting the X pipe a little higher on the right.
