Hi,

Getting my 75 Commando running for the year and while changing the battery on it, went and changed the battery on my Guzzi. Returned to the Norton and connected the cables as I thought they were and I blew the fuse. I replaced the fuse and now my ignition light does not turn on and neither does the neutral light, but that was always iffy. So obviously, I did not remember correctly, which can happen at my age. I have a heavy guage black wire going to the starter solenoid, a heavy guage wire which is red connected to , a smaller gauge brown/blue wire and a

I think , things have locked up on him ..... no fun when that happens ;)

As I was saying before the site kind of locked up, black heavy gauge wire to starter solenoid, heavy gauge red wire', brown/blue wire, and red doubled up wire that goes into harness.

Assuming it's original positive earth/ground.

black heavy gauge wire to starter solenoid,

Connects to battery negative.

heavy gauge red wire

Assuming that's the heavy gauge positive starter return cable connected to the engine crankcase (although normally black)?
If so, connects to battery positive.

brown/blue wire

Connects to battery negative.

and red doubled up wire that goes into harness

Assuming there's the normal harness head steady connection to the engine then that secondary battery positive wire is best left disconnected from the battery.

Thanks very helpful, the doubled up red wire was not indicated in the schematics, in fact.

They sell self-adhesive stickers that say Positive Ground or Negative Ground. Highly recommend especially for those that feel a need to have negative ground. For the next owner or someone who is working on your bike someday.

Installed new lithium batteries in the Norton and the Guzzi. Had to install the battery on its side to fit, but that's the nice thing about lithium batteries, they can be installed in any position.
