I know there are a lot of threads about rearsets but I would like some input from taller riders to figure out if I want to go down the rearset path. I’m 6’2” and have a ‘73 commando 850 with Corbin seat and standard bars. Is anyone else using rearsets with this configuration? Would I be better off going back to standard seat and flatter bars?
What configuration and rear sets are other taller riders using that work for them?
Thanks in advance for any advive

6'2" CNW rearsets...Corbin Gunfighter...Flat bars. Best configuration I've found. Barely rideable with the Corbin and stock pegs.

6’ Cordin, cNw rearsets, clip ons.

Absolutely love it... but wouldn’t use it for touring... and would probably change the clip ons for flats or similar if it were my only bike.

6' 1" with long legs/arms. Been using rear sets with UK bars and both a stock and or a hump seat almost 30 years. Just switched to flat bars and did a 2500k trip over 5 days. Was great like this, and didn't get a sore ass until the last couple hundred km.

I'm also 6'2" and have the clubman rear sets. They work, but they are not automotive "jewelry" like some of the other higher quality rear sets made by others. When I lay my bike over hard into a corner, I sometimes scrape my boots (size 13) I have narrow low rise bars, a fairing, and an interstate tank. It's hard having all those components on one bike. Each component conspires to dictate your riding position. I've avoided going to clip on bars. I don't want to ride in that position.

With all that being said, if you are tall and you're going to use the stock footpegs, I would think that you need some pulled back buckhorn style handlbars so your sitting up straight with your feet forward. I never like my original combination of stock forward foot pegs and my short bars. Once I got moving, I would put my feet on the rear footpegs, and only move them forward to shift or use the rear brake.

Sharp looking scooter there. Bet it cuts yer fingers when ya touch it.

I'm using Don's (Madass) Dunstall repros with clip ons, but I'm only 5'10, they're very well made and reasonably priced.

Cheers mate. I have been looking at those and they won’t break the bank. Would like to know if taller riders with big hooves are using these.
Is that the stock brake cable? Do these work OK with stock kicker?

It's the stock cable and I didn't have any clearance issues with the 750 kickstart, though I've since put the MKIII version on there, a pal who is 6' uses them on his dunstall 810 and is quite happy with them... not sure his foot size though ;)

Looks temporary. Both feet on the ground....Anyway a bike which looks that good promotes rapid healing.

Though Im 5'8" and way small footsies I must agree with the RHS footrest being a bit low for hard layover turns. If you wish to shift up
your foot will get trapped twixt the road and the shifter. It must be a real bother if you have normal size feet.
Otherwise Im happy with the Madass bits and I have the MkIII kicker installed. Under way they are great.

They work fine with a stock kicker. But I too went to the MK3 kicker to get better clearance of it over the pipes I have.

I have 10.5 US feet, and find the arc of the shifter a bit long for my riding position - I am going to tighten the bend a little bit so it falls more in the nook of my arch/toe without my heel being on the peg - so my boot heel is completely behind it.

If you are downshifting (gears, not direction) in the middle of that hard a layover, I think you will likely have more things to worry about than scraping your toes.

Re rear sets: Due to the angle I prefer the shift lever, I need a shift lever with a roller instead of a fixed pad. Does such a thing exist or would it have to be fabricated?

Shoulder bolt, short 1/4” PVC (ABS) pipe nipple (grey) and it’s “fabbed”.
