Speed

I don't think you're beating it. All I'm saying is that the bike will continue to increase speed until you come up to the rev limiter .

The throttle was pinned but the engine still had a bit left. She was climbing. I'm not into to beating on her and/or winding up in jail. 15 seconds at best. Had an open faced and felt like my head was going to get ripped off.
I agree 100%. This is the fastest I ever taken my bike. I also don’t like winding her out to max RPM and as you said it was still pulling but my body felt like a parachute and my hands were completely numb from the cold lol.

I don’t think a dyno is a good enough simulation Tony as it can’t simulate wind resistance, which, at speed in the region of 120-130mph has quite an impact.

As anecdotal evidence of this: Removing the mirrors off my GSXR750 (when I were a lad) gave it an extra 5mph!

Maybe with the speedo error at those speeds would explain the MCN 130 mph tested ?

My left mirror flipped backwards before the rev limiter engaged...

Not sure , I would like to find out. Would a top gear dyno pull help simulate that ? Looks like Raphi pulled to the rev limiter in top !
No.
I’ve dynoed my car over 30 times and it’s well into 195-198 mph range. The thing not to forget is aerodynamics. Top speed on my car on the track / road is 177 mph and is limited by the front splitter and rear spoilers down force. Remove the splitter and rear spoiler top end speed increases.
We all know motorcycles are not aerodynamic. At least with some riders lol.

Can some clever Nortonian work out what distance would be required at maximum acceleration to reach top speed? Thinking of which safe local straights in the Midlands I can try it out on. The M54 west or the M69 south used to be my favourites to stretch the legs of my old Alpine.

My speeding on motorways has been over since 1999, 104mph on the M3 resulted in a £350 fine & a weeks ban, & lots more on car insurance for next 5 years ,it was an SP50 code, and with technology making them “ smart motorways” us former turbo nutter boy racers are now truly chastised, here’s the midlands atm for the smart roads, best place I think Clive is Mallory Park in July

As my last 'estimated' speeding ticket in my 'flash sportscar' by a bored traffic cop was over 30 years ago it sounds like I worked out the risks of speeding before you did. I am, however, not averse to the occasional blast on the bike on an empty bit of dual carriageway.

Ref the smart motorways there have been reports of the speed cameras on the M1 and M25 being set to 72mph with an instant ban at 90mph. Apparently this was reported on the BBC but I can't find anything on any official sites...
