As we are now starting to think about rebuilding 'The Big Spender', Yves is looking for a set of either Maney or billet crankcases, first step of many yet to come.

Thank you,
Bruno

is anyone making billet cases ? if not if a couple of people are interested you might talk Dean Ryde from billetworld into taking on the project . www.billetworld.co.uk Dean is a motorcycle guy himself and made Ducati single cases from billet amongst a lot of other motorcycle parts .

crankshafts could be made in Belgium by Nuyts .

I'll check to see if there are any SBR billet cases still available here in New Zealand if your are interested Jag?

Thank you Mike!
Yves is pondering over various possibilities at the moment, so yes please we would appreciate if you could let me know if a pair of those cases are still available from NZ for him. Please let me know by MP when you have an answer!
Have a nice weekend and thank you very much for your help!
Best,
Bruno

It may not be quite so straightforward - as I understand it Steve has quit because he can't get the castings done any more.

Indeed, in magnesium too... magnesium Commando cases may be just the nice little upgrade Yves is looking for ...!

Wouldn't recommend it. I don't think Commando cases in magnesium have the long term durabililty for a high performance street bike. The only set I've seen were on a race bike, and developed cracks after very few races. Now if we had some metal matrix cases (magnesium with silicon carbide fibers?) we'd be getting somewhere, but the machining costs (diamond tooling) would probably be out of sight:(.

When I last spoke to Steve he was talking about retiring! Then he started selling the last of his stuff. No mention of problems with foundrys.

BTW, I have seen crankcase castings this year. Not AN and not Maney.
