961 bobber anyone?

So our front wheels are going to crack and fall apart and it's all Norton's fault?????

I assume this guy started the build then got some therapy....
 
Hope the bidders noticed the mention of “ no V5” basket case at its worst,can’t see that ever taking shape,as for wheel problem mention ? Mine ok after 16,000 miles
 
Central wheels assembled my mate's T140 wheels incorrectly, then ruined a bearing housing and had the cheek to charge him to fix it.
I believe they had the original contract to build Hinckley Triumph spoke wheels, but the contract wasn't renewed.
Draw your own conclusions.

I'd love to see that finished but you just know it will be back on Ebay in 2 or 3 years with a rattle canned Sportster tank ,crap looking 80s Jap wheels and a seized engine as they forgot the oil tank (unless that round alloy box with the hole in the end and no filler neck is it) I propose all the forum members club together, buy it, and give it the decent burial it deserves :)
 
You can see the spoke is bent just as it leaves the cracked hub, which suggests the rim is mis-drilled or laced incorrectly.
 
Central wheels built my wheels with the wrong offset, assembled the hubs wrong even though I told them not to strip them, fitted tubes that wouldn’t hold air, didn’t balance the wheels as asked for, and insisted on fitting rims that were too narrow (but I insisted harder).

Apart from that, I thought they were great...!

Anyway, I thought it’d look cool with a brown seat, wrapped headers, and other such ‘standard custom components’

But only if the rider has a lumberjack shirt, turn ups, BDB and a handbag...

Or keep the engine, stick a blower on it and see what the dyno says....
 
Can we all chip in and buy Fred a blower? He's really infatuated with that supercharger.:D
 
some very old parts there.....!

And we have NEVER had a wheel crack, all TUV approved and fatigue tested over a million cycles so god knows what hes done with them, those rims were from Central Wheel.
 
I wonder where the rest of the chassis for this bike is...

maybe a 1200cc Thruxton R engined Triton is taking shape in some dark shed somewhere as we speak...?

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that... my guess is its the last we've seen of this... until it re-appears on ebay as an unfinished project...
 
This eBay bid could just be a tease from Garner to see who out there is interested in a production Norton chopper.
He may be planning a new 961 chopper variant like the Street.
Maybe a trike, or a 961 go kart, ice racer, etc......
Possibilities would be endless.
