Well legally in the UK a dealer can offer a short warranty but the Sale of goods act says it must be of merchandisable quality ie if its £5 then 3 months is ok but for £20,000+ 3 months is a non starter and 6 years would be enforceable with money time and effort. At 6 years you would not get full coverage ie 20 or 25% due to age but up to 2 years would be good for 100% payout.
