I have a feeling that my speedo is off. Seems faster than what I'm going. Does anybody have any rpm match to the speed? Like 4000rpm equals ?mph?

Yes Lots of Data on that. 60 indicated = 57 mph , 70 indicated = 67 mph , 80 indicated = 75/76 mph. On my bike with STOCK 18/50 gearing.

Most report being off 5mph. Mine is much more at higher speeds. More like 10%. When I'm doing 80, I'm really only doing about 72 or so.

Easy to verify no need to guess . When I was running the 17/47 gearing I was spot on 50 to 85 .

Maybe stating the obvious but can you borrow a satnav/ gps bike computer to confirm?

Frankly , Are you going to care if you are really going 75 when your speedo reads 80 and they are still passing you ? you need to go 85 then !

Agreed!
But, Tony you know my 961 becomes much smoother around 5200RPM or an indicated 90mph.
I would rather be there than 85mph.

I'm not guessing. We have radar displays all over Long Island. That, and I'm basically keeping up with traffic. Folks don't average 75 to 80 mph with State Troopers all over the place. Speed limit is 55 and the average car is doing about 62.

Yeah I guess what you mean. But sometimes I ride alone with no traffic & am a little worried about cop radar.

Ok Kid , This is what I do : Use your smart phone and put on a tank bag that has a clear map window. Download a free speedo app to your smart phone. Put the phone in the map pocket while you start your app. Read off the speed when you are on the highway driving. Most speedometers read a bit high. Meaning you're going a little slower than the speedo reads.

In the UK we have products like the RoadAngel which has a GPS based speed readout and road speed limit indicator plus a database of static speed cameras and laser radar detector. Maybe you could get something similar.

If you get clocked for speeding is it just a fine or can you lose your license?

We now have a lot of 20mph limits in towns which are so easy to exceed.

Hello Clive , Are you finding that your speedo is reading a bit high too ?

Yeah. It seems to be quite high. Yes it would be a speeding ticket but over a certain speed it could be arrest or lost lic.!!!

No more than other vehicles. We normally assume that there is around 10% allowance for speed cameras so going through at an indicated 35 0r 77 would be safe as it probably equates to a bit over 30 or 70. The real problem at the moment are anpr average speed zones. Fortunately a lot of them have front facing cameras:)

My POS Veglias on the the Bonnie swing so much, I guesstimate somewhere in the middle.

Does anyone know if having a "real" Bosch sensor helps with indicated speed accuracy? Can't hurt I guess.

Thanks! Good idea!
