The 961 Street

It's kind of growing on me. Although I still think it looks like a Nortasaki. I would like to see a roadster with a proper one piece two up seat.

Interesting.
The new bodywork does give the bike a bit of the UJM look.
But I think Henry Cole made the tank from metal - that's a plus.
I wonder if the tank allows for additional steering lock?
That would help the bike maneuver around town.

Overall I think a new model improves the brand's visibility to the M/C community.
And..variety is the spice of life.

Agreed. There was never a real touring model in the 961 line-up. A twin seat model based on the California model, preferably with slimmed-down silencers and the cowling of the Street model would be a real treat. I guess rear part of the frame has to be altered to achieve this.

Nice stubby exhaust, i guess this would now be available for the standard 961. I did enquire about having the dominator exhaust on my new 961 but was told it wouldn't fit but this surely would. Not sure I want to stump out another £900 though, unless Clive wants to get rid of his long pipes, go short, pay me £900 as I have run them in then I can get em.

The exhaust will require the Domiracer type muffler hangers. This is what I am seeing from the photos. Just think of the possibilities , new bodywork for a Std 961 Commando , or a complete makeover with exhaust and hangers. Cornering clearance should improve too ? I wonder what it sounds like ? Completely different than the duals , more of a howl when you're on the pipe. But if Norton are going to be making these parts then they should become available to the masses ? (all 2000 of us) PS I would rubber mount the muffler to the hanger if at all possible !

would prefer black forks and silver rear shock reservoirs though! Maybe factory will oblige....

True ! What about that muffler ? Will it be too loud for production ?

OOoo this is so tempting. NOT!!!!

Ref the Domi exhausts do you mean the megas? I love the bark from my non standard open longs but keep listening to those megaphones on youtube…. There must be a fabricator who could make a pair to slip on the standard downpipes for the occasional audibly enhanced thrash. Even I would temporarily swap my longs for that gorgeous noise.

Your'e coming around Clive, yes it was the megas I would have gone for but pleased with the shorties. I didn't realise these were 2 into 1's on the street. I might lower the price on my shorties Clive if these cost less because one less can.

I wonder how it sounds ? Will the bike have that muffler when delivered ?

A few guys on Faceache have them. One was picked up from Krazy Horse at the weekend, number 18. Seem to be a fair few still waiting for theirs - ring any bells?
I took a look at the Krazy Horse one last week and the tank and exhaust are works of art, however not sure what the tank capacity is as it looks flatter but wider at the back.
The anorak in me spotted that the ohlins forks had compression damping only in one leg and rebound in the other. Not sure if these will appear on future Commandos.
