My neutral light sometimes flashes on and off when an travelling in top gear, can't find any loose connection or were its getting feed from, anybody else seen this.

Yes , mine also has just started doing the same after the ecu upgrade.
Never did it before .

There is a patch cable with resistor from Norton. Same one is used against flashing fuel light...

Glad I never get into 5th gear on the local roads I ride.

So my 2016 MKII just started with the flashing Neutral light. I can get it to happen while parked & in neutral gear if I bounce the bike up/down so a loose connection maybe? If so where would it most likely be found?

The schematic for post 2013 models shows the Neutral switch brings in a ground this goes to the ECU and to the SPEEDO. So the power most likely come from the SPEEDO . I would disconnect the neutral switch at the trans case ,. Then if the light never comes on again , probably the neutral switch. Could also be the ECU bringing the neutral line low and causing the light to illuminate. Or there is a wire going to ground (chaffing) . I would start by disconnecting the neutral switch wire from the switch itself. Remember that now the bike ECU will always think that you're in gear so you will have to pull in clutch lever to start . I think what Lexington is saying is that when he is in neutral , he can get the neutral light to go out intermittently by bouncing. This may be related , but does his light come ON when it's NOT supposed to ? If you lose the ground coming from the neutral switch the light will go out. If you get a ground (or any low potential) on the neutral switch wire (no matter what gear you are in) the neutral light will come on. I would start with the neutral wire connector first. I hope this helps .

TonyA, yes my neutral light come's on when it's not supposed to, in any gear that is. I can also get it to come on by simply bouncing the bike up & down when it's stationary & in a gear with clutch lever held in.

So you suggest first disconnecting the neutral switch at the trans case? If that's a yes you mean simply disconnect the neutral wire from where it connects to the transmission case, correct? (Unfortunately I know next to nothing about electronics but I do have the latest Norton Factory Service Manual so hopefully I can track the wire down on schematics)

Yes , Disconnect the neutral switch connector/wire at tranny. The light will go out and stay out hopefully. If it does not come on again while you drive it , then your neutral switch is bad . Or if it stays on all the time same thing . Probably bad neutral switch.

Both my neutral light and fuel light have started to intermittently come on in any gear... from the earlier post is this an issue Norton are aware of and have a solution to?

For flashing fuel light, yes. There is a patch lead for this. It is an easy fix, you just have to take off the tank for this.
Flashing neutral is not solved in my opinion, but also is because of electrical interference...

For a flickering neutral light we can provide a patch lead which needs to be put between two wires in the speedo multiplugs. Very easy job to do.

Hi Rob,
Would the lead be covered by warrant? Mine does the occasional flicker (still under warranty until November)

Thanks. We don’t have a dealer for Norton in NZ anymore. Should I deal directly with you?
The bike was purchased in November 2016.

Thanks

Paul

If you would like to send me an email or PM with your address, I will send you the patch lead and instructions directly, although we will have coverage in NZ in the near future.

Just installed today the patch lead inside speedo cluster.
Very easy job to do and it seems to be sorted now!
