Seat cover ideas needed

Since the remap and the extra power from the LONG OPENS I'm considering velcro....
What you need is a little more posterior support to stop the backwards slide. Here is a taster of what my seat will end up like, I don't know how the finished seat will look as I'm leaving that to the upholsterer, but think Dommi Naked and it will be similar...

Scottish leather + carbon effect. Shape is what I was after except once seat bolts are in place it sits a little proud of the seat hump... I had hoped it would be level.... it looks ok as is, Wife says it looks great and to leave it alone.... but I'm undecided. Seat man hasn't seen it on the bike yet so I shall dwell on it a little longer.

Wow, that’s really impressive Mark, a really good design job.

I’ll bet most folk would never notice the misalignment. But if it’s gonna bug you (as I suspect it may) it might be worth asking Seat man if he thinks he can address it.

Alignment is good, just the hump is a little higher than I was expecting. It looks like it was done on purpose and the more I look at it the more it is growing on me.

What REALLY bugs me are those seat bolts. The first time I removed the seat I thought to myself that a 4 year old in kindergarten could have done a better design job.

I have just noticed that one of the plastic 'bars' that holds the whatitsname nut that the seat bolt screws into on my original seat is snapped!!!!!!!!!! The only thing holding the seat on are those plastic 'bars' one either side, no hooks, nothing else, just a flimsy hand cut plastic bar, and ONE OF MINE IS SNAPPED! How these seats got past scrutiny I will never know.

That seat looks fantastic. Well done.
With the seat bolts. The threaded housing that the bolts fit into can be discarded and better metal ones used. No more fiddling around trying to find the hole.
Well that's on the 2014 model.

On the 2018 bikes the threaded housing is clipped over a small plastic 'rail' which has been hand cut in the seat base. The thin plastic rail is approx. 3-4mm thick (it varies because of the 'hand cut' nature lol) and 15mm long and that is all that holds the metal retaining nut in place

Sort of looks ok but if you want to have another go, I will give you a tenner for your first attempt. Not a bad job, really you did quite well.

Offer ends 10.00am this morning

wow, it looks amazing, the colour of the bike, the blacked engine and the seat is subtle but spectangular.

Did you manage to repair the snapped plastic bar??? Or is it a new seat?

I took my seat off today, the plastic mount which holds/supports the spire clip has snapped off, no force used

I took my seat off for the second time today, the plastic mount which holds/supports the spire clip has snapped off, no force used
I contacted Norton, sent a couple of photo's and they replaced the seat under warranty. I've not had any problems with the replacement but it hasn't been removed that many times.

Thanks for your reply, I'll try that route.
I removed the seat to replace a fuse a few days ago, took it off again today to replace the spare fuse in the carrier, was amazed to find the spire clip broken away with the plastic mount snapped. Much too delicate.

Apparently the design has changed since - mine was the same. As my seat is custom it's tempting to fashion a metal plate with captive nuts until it needs a retrim on the replacement frame.

Good to know the design's been changed.
Any repair or plate will be tricky due to the shape and angle of the mounting, though if someone designs one there could be plenty of takers!

The top rails of the frame form a wedge shape, and the seat base is also a mirror of that wedge shape so I think it makes sense when fitting the seat to get it pushed as far forward up against the tank before tightening the two bolts. That would put less stress on the retaining nut mounts. If the seat is pushed back then the wedge opens and I guess when tightening the seat bolts can add to the stress on the retaining nut mounts. Just a guess.
