Tail bag? Luggage?

Tail bag? Luggage?
After looking for a way to carry enough luggage to go camping on my dual seat model, without damaging the paint, I decided to fit an AltRider luggage rack intended for a Multistrada. Some holes needed to be drilled in the rack and nylon spacers fitted. It works well combined with Kriega 70 liter bag setup. No problems over a 860 mile run and High speed blasts did not upset it at all.

If your interested I posted some photo's on Flickr

I really like the Jofama bag Its waterproof, curved to fit the bike and I got everything for a 10 day trip in it. I always put a non slip material underneath before fitting

Raphi , What are you using to protect your tail paint ?

Raphi,

Sorry don't want to hijack this thread, but what EFI map are you using with your SBN exhaust?

I think the tailtray that Blighty has is a great alternative.
I like what TonyA did, however, I would go for smaller soft bags. The tail tray on Blighty's bike is very cool but requires a two up configuration. The fork bag looks dangerous. Maybe a much smaller bag that doesn't rest on the front mudguard. I use what Raphi uses but mines half that size.

Tony,

The Nelson Rigg looks good, but how do you protect the paint under the bag on the tail section?

You hope the Neoprene pad it comes with works. I've been reluctant to do this but I will try a mock up first. If it looks solid I may go for it . Everyone who doesn't have a dual set , or Domi will have this issue. I though about making a lightweight rack that mounts to the Blood Brothers frames. A kind of Bridge that attaches to both and goes over the tail section. If I had that , I wouldn't need the Nelson Rigg ! What about a clear protective film applied ?

They have a soft neoprene base kind of like the bottom of your mousepad. I still put a microfiber cloth under it. The nelson rig is cool but again, that set up is for the two up, straps under the top half. I connect mine to the piggy back shocks and around the indicators. Its at this point where the original tidy would come in handy, as ugly as it is.

You inspired me with that Nelson Rigg bag, Tony, so I put one on mine. Works a treat with the dual seat.

Hi Tony

Do you have a part number for your pannier frames? Also were they straight forward to mount, I have a trip coming up in sept and been trying to work out what to put on , I think for what I want that set up looks the best.
