Are you referring to the PTFE washers?

The workshop manual calls for a thorough cleaning and "grease lightly". I use moly grease.

ordinary grease OK?

Honda Moly 60, available or orderable at any Honda dealer; a life-time supply (LTS) for under $20. I purchased my LTS for a BMW transmission input shaft, my son borrowed my LTS and coated the transmission input shaft on his '03 Mustang Cobra, my other son borrowed my LTS to coat the transmission input shaft on a Saab 93 for his son when installing a new clutch. I also use it for the Norton's ISOs, the uses just keep mounting up.

The Honda Moly 60 pretty much stays where you put it.

I thought PTFE was basically self lubricanting and any grease or oil was a dirt magnet?

The manual says to grease it up. PTFE is basically Teflon I think ,one of the slipperiest things out there , fry pan coating stuff. The washers mentioned are impregnated with bronze particles , to lengthen their lives and strengthen them up a bit. Grease would help with the wear shufflings.
Someone told me to use the Silicone spray so I picked up a can and sprayed up the dry (grease long gone) isolastic washers on the MK 111 . Now I'm realizing as suggested this should be a grease so now I have to get grease onto them somehow . I'll back off the 2 main bolts , back off the adjusters ,work in the grease somehow then readjust to specs , then tighten up the 2 bolts/studs again. I'm thinking using the tube of red silicone grease I have already.

PTFE is very slippery but oil/grease will make it even more slippery, with oil not working very well in this application as it drains away too quickly and makes a mess. For a PTFE lined steel bush life expectancy is doubled by adding lubrication over using dry.

If iso cover seals functional please grease, if road grit much a concern grease grinds faster. Best stuff I found for this and swingarm spindle is good ole Cornhead grease. Good for non cycle stuff too.

I have had luck with this Penetrating Grease http://www.zep.com/ZepSearch/default1.aspx?search=zep+2000&num=10&match=Exact&country=U . I HAVE NOT used it in the isolastics yet, but I will give it a try after reading this thread.

For those who leave off the rubber gaiters on the isos.... Do you run yours dry? Wouldn't you have a perfect grinding paste with the road and farm field dust in with the grease? Wonder what CNW does since they like 'em gaiterless?
