Hi guys, this is my first post .
Thanks for letting me in , I collected my new 961 yesterday. Brought home in a mates van as It wont be registered until an 2018.
I liked the look of these machines when I first saw one and thought .............

I WANT ONE .

I did have one of the last 850 Commandoes , a mk 3 ,s reg, 1977. Loved it but sold on as you do.
Anyway looking foward to riding it when weather gets better . I do have a few others to ride as well. I think this is an old (ish) man issue .

Nice one piper.

Please learn how to post pics. And then, well, post some pics !

What did you get exactly?

Where in the world are you?

I am awaiting completion of my Aniversary Cafe Racer as we speak...!

Nice, I also have a silver 961 with 4500 miles on the clock had it the last 18 months hope you enjoy it.
Dodgy Den.

Looks good. At least the weather is on your side, ie NOT tempting you to ride it!

Is registering it yourself a simple process?

I will get in touch with the shop and they will register and tax it at the same time (I`ve Paid for it).

I also have a 1981 Ironhead I`ve been rebuilding and I will have to register it . It does`nt sound hard to do ...................

MOT it and Ins. fill in form ad go ...................

Piper 600,

Love the look of that seat and the embroidered tail pad. Is that the standard seat on the MK 2? Wonder if that beauty would fit on my Mk 1 Cafe Racer. Would need to be able to change the seat cowl pad with the embossed item.

Anybody any ideas?

Steve,
You don't need to buy anything new or change anything. Pull the staples from your present seat pan, very carefully pull the cover off. The only part that was glued on mine was the angled rise at the back. Pull that off very slowly as you don't want any foam coming off. A little heat from a hair dryer might be needed. Take a digital photo of "Norton" on the tank and send it to your favorite embroidery shop and they will digitize it. Bring the seat cover to them. The actual size of the embroidery "Norton" on the seat ended up being slightly smaller than "Norton" on the tank on mine. It just looked better being slightly smaller. Pick out the color you want and a UV resistant thread. Voila! You have a beautifully customized seat for relatively little cost. The only part you can't really do yourself, unless you have a pneumatic staple gun, is putting it all back on the seat pan. I had a local upholstery guy do it. There is a technique to it that takes a bit of experience.
Hope this helps.

I would like to post a picture of the embroidery on my seat.....but how in the heck does one do that? Does it take some sort of top secret special handshake or do the moon and stars have to be in a special alignment? I prefer to fly low under the radar so I don't do Facebook, Twitter etc.

That's exactly how I want to get my seat embroidered only with black suede or a black buckskin finish. I don't get rained on much. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Yup. That looks really sharp. Thanks for posting.
