Headlamp switch wiring

I am installing a new 3 position Lucas headlamp switch on a 74 Commando. The wiring connections are making sense until the new switch comes into play.....I need a photo or diagram detailing which color wire connects to which post on the switch, I am close but a bit stumped....any input is much appreciated

If you mean the switch in the headlamp shell then you have the wrong switch. It should be a two position switch. Basically just headlamp on or off. Pointing vertically is off.

Which particular "3 position Lucas switch"?

As stated by Nortoniggy, it would normally be a 2 position (34660) switch, although that particular switch is no longer available (now 31780), a 3 position switch can be used as the switch only connects blue/yellow [UY] (from the ignition switch terminal 4) to blue to turn the headlamp ON but only when the ignition switch is at 'Ignition and Lights'.
The other running lights (pilot, tail, instruments) are fed from ignition switch terminal 3.

On the Titanic ('73 Roadster) with the terminals on the switch pointing to the right side, the lower front terminal gets the blue w/yellow stripe wire and the other lower terminal gets the blue wire. The two upper terminals are unused.

I should have mentioned that this is an LED upgrade.

Now these configurations make sense now. I wired this "shell switch" so that it is in the off position flipped right or left with center position being on.
Can someone please confirm the Dip Beam connection? I see it as connecting to the secondary bulb included in the main bulb housing/lamp. I thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience.

The smaller bulb below the headlamp bulb is the 'pilot' (position/park) bulb, and that should have a brown/green [NG] feed wire.
The dip (low beam) blue/red [UR] wire should connect to the headlamp bulb.
