I have checked my front hub and it is not running true on the right (disc) side. It has a wobble
Looking at it, I suspect this is how it came machined from the factory as the right bearing outer race is tight.
Whomever laced the wheel rim last, compensated for this.

I am looking for a good used one but it seems my only option is over $500 for a new one from the UK.

Might anyone know of sources in North America?
In the parts book, the part number is 06-2867 but that seems to be the complete hub

Thanks
Dennis

Dennis , Try calling up Walrige Motors London Ontario . Mike has plenty of parts not listed as new , used , in his warehouse . He does not need the why story part .
Enjoy .

What exactly is wrong with your existing hub?
Are you saying the disc mounting face isn't true to the spindle?
If so this can be trued in a lathe

I have a scruffy front wheel that I "might" need, if I can find a cheap/trade set of Commando forks for a rolling Triton chassis.

I could be persuaded to trade for a set of modern Triumph triple yokes... Don't get TOO excited, the disc was rusty, so I spray painted it, strictly for a mock-up on a '70 Triumph ongoing project...

It is not the disc. The actual hub, on the right side, wobbles like if the hole for the right side bearing outer race was machined 10 or 15 thou plus thou off centre compared to the centre of the machining for the disc hub.

If you look at the hub from the side of the bike as you spin the hub, it wobbles from front of bike to back.
So the disk does the same. Disc is not warped but is fixed to the hub. So as you spin the front wheel, the hub right side visually wobbles from front to
back of bike and thus makes the disc move front to back of bike. This is very visible in the caliper where I can see the disc move closer to the top of caliper and then away. The disc does not move side to side within the caliper (ie it is not warped)

This makes an annoying click when riding. When brakes are not applied, the wobbling hub/disc moves the brake pads slightly towards the rider, and there is a metallic click, and then moves the pads towards the axle and there is another click. If I jack up front tire and spin it, I get two clicks per tire revolution. One as disc moves pads to towards rider and they hit top of caliper and one click as they are moved towards axle and hit bottom metal of caliper. If I apply brakes lightly, the noise does not happen.

I would love to solve this in a way that does not require pulling the whole wheel apart.

If you put the hub assembly in a lathe with the bearings between centres and a turning dog you can machine the face of the hub where the disc sits
And true it up to the spindle
This will sort your problem,at the very worse the disc won't be central but that can also be addressed in the lathe
Or you can compensate with wheel weights if it throws the wheel out of balance

Don Pender has beautiful front hubs for a lot less than $500. Not pictured on his website, but a lot of his stuff is not. You just have to email him.

I do understand that if I put the hub in a lathe, I can true it.
But it is not the face that the disc lies on and is bolted to that needs to be touched, it is the centring of the disc.
The current centre rotational axis of the disc is not at the centre axis of the axle spindle.
