Does anyone know if this species exists. I want to use the Avon Road Riders with the recommended rim width but can't find any.

Thanks,
Ed

These do the trick.
Excel REWM31940H EXCEL WM3 (2.15) x 19" SHOULDERED ALUMINUM RIM - 40H

Nope. Been through the exercise and nothing available. The non-shouldered rims look good and with the Roadriders, handling/steering is fantastic.

I assume you have been in contact with Buchanan's for the Borrani they can't seem to get in until maybe a year from now? I feel your pain! I was having that same rim problem, but also with the 19" Continental rear I wanted. I caved, and ordered the WM3x18 Borrani and the 18" Conti rear that are both available now, and am feeling better.

Thanks all for the replies. I've decided to go with the WM3 19" Excel's as suggested by Pete.V

Have you asked yourself why exactly (or if) you want the flanged style? They do look cool and period-correct. They also can be a pain to keep clean, and some do not have the "bead?" that is recommended to mount a tubeless tire, which wd further reduce weight and make repairs Much easier. If it's weight you are concerned with, the Excel is a good choice, avail from Buchanan in WM4 x 19, 40 dimples, then drilled to your bike's spec for $248 total.

I bought the Buchanan stainless spoke kits to re-lace both of my stock rims. Now I wish I had ordered the rims also. The spoke kits were excellent. I pulled them up tight, trued them as best I could with my funky jig, and the front disk with its severe offset was perfectly centered in the caliper without further fiddling. I'm sure you could pay them to make you a set, too, if you don't like the idea of lacing them yourself.

WM 4 X 19 ???????

I thought the Avon road riders were available in max 100/90 x 19 width 2.15 ( WM3 ) would be more suitable

Nope. Avon's recommended rim for those tires is a MT2.50 (WM4). Their min/max for it is 2.15 - 2.75. Having said that, a lot of us have used it on a WM3 rim and are pleased with the results.

I have them on WM2 rims without problems. Isn't a 100/90 the same as a 4.10/19?

No. Roadriders are a modern tyre. You don't get to use all of the profile with WM2 rims.

Here is Avon's spec sheet showing rim widths...

Mr. Rick,
Thanks for the info. I am stuck on the look of the flanged rims. It is good to know that Excel makes a WM4 19 in non-flanged. I may put those on my Commando Fastback that I will be putting back together after I complete this SS.

I meant WM3 rims. The steering and handling qualities with WM4 rims are excellent. You do not need to go to a 90/90 tyre to get light steering. Just fit the tyres to the correct size rims.
