Hi folks, quick one.
I know there's tons of debates around wheels and rims sizes. and I came to the conclusion that I wanted to fit a wm3-18 rear (or 18) and a wm2-19 front.
But life's not perfect. So the choice I have is WM3-19 front and rear. I have a 72 disk brake.
Will the Wm3 fit on the front wheel?

We had a recent discussion about an 850 Mk3 and it will on that one. Increased rim width between the 2 and 3 is only 0.3", 1.85 vs 2.15.

WM3 was the recommended rim size for the 4.10 tyre at the time. Quite why NVT put them on a WM2 is a mystery as it was contrary to the tyre manufacturer's advice.

NVT probably had a bunch of WM2 or got them super cheap and said what the heck. Cj

Agreed.
As with many, many, many other items, I'm sure (layshaft bearings, soft cam, LUCAS.........). That's why we're all here, to get things proper. Better late than never. Into the sunset we ride. "DEER" (public service announcement) It's that time of year.

there was a bloke once who wore the sides of a Trigonic tyre first with tread left on the center , unless he spun the wheel & shaved it of in the shed ? .

Youll get more rubber on he road , upright & over . So it should be steadyer .

I predict there will soon be a comment that totally disagrees with you. Not from me. I think you know from whom.

I switched from WM2-19 front and rear to WM3-19 front and rear. Instantly noticeable difference.
The bike feels like a whole different animal. More stable, and feels more planted on the road. I'm glad I did it.

I am running WM-4’s front and back with Avon Roadriders and I love them. When the rear tire wears out I move the front to the rear and place a new skin on the front wheel.
Works well for me. The WM-4 fits inside the 850 style front fender.
Cheers,
Thomas

If you are going to replace those WM-2s, WM-4s are a closer fit to median tire manufacture rim width spec than WM-3s for most tire sizes run on a lot of Nortons.

As some have said, perhaps the WM4-18 on the rear and the WM3-19 on the front may suite you personal preference.

I found the Excel shouldered WM3 to be awesome and handle the crazy front offset nicely. These are also within spec for the Avon Roadrider AM26 at 2.15.

I ran the same configuration as Pete and found it to be very good, possibly even better than the stock WM2-19 setup. Not to mention a much greater selection of tires.

Well, my '70 Fastback ran a 3.60 front, which would have been fine on a WM2, so I reckon they just increased tyre size and used the rims/wheels they had, allowing the same tyre fit front and rear and probably gota better discount from Dunlop!

Go on, call me an old cycnic...

Depends on the size, the AM26 comes in many....90/90-19 is OK on a WM2 (1.85) per Avon while they spec at least a WM3(2.15) for a 100/90-19
