It still snows at Alice's Restaraunt this time of year.

But Cookie it was in the low 70's this last weekend, I wore my leather jacket on our ride to Laguna Beach. :lol:

I know it was tough but I put on my warmest togs and braved the mid sixties. At one point I hit a puddle and splashed myself but I survived.
For revenge for you cold wet riders I did hit a bloody bug and nearly choked. I thought they were out of season.

When I was a lot younger and going to school, I rode my little Yamaha 80 everyday one winter. The school was about 4 Km from home and only one day I stayed in school for lunch because of a major snow storm, the rest of the times I would ride to school, come back for lunch and go back to school then come back home after classes. Had a few close calls with brain freeze, come to think of it, that may have imparted permanent damage :wink: I had a set of knobbies for better traction and I would also go for more rides in the evening. At school, I found a parking spot right by an air exhaust, at that spot, the temperature was always above freezing which helped with starting and keep my bike snow free all the time, but sometimes an idiot in a pickup would steal my spot. At home I would just park it under the enclosed balcony and even in the coldest days, it never failed to start. If I remember right, the coldest I ever rode in was -20F (-32C) and 4Km felt longer as the temperature went down :mrgreen:

On a Norton, the coldest was close to 0C and I took it on a spin the first few days on a road covered with ice, how I stayed up I have no idea, probably the new Avon tires had better cold grip than when really hot.

I gotta get a set of them.
It will keep pedrestrians from walking out in front of me.

It does not get that hot on this side of the Bay, we tend to have the fog and wind to cool things down.
I used to hate those east coast warm winter days that lured young idiots out on the highway. Then you end up in a snowstorm on the side of the road at 15 mph while semis whoosh past and blow thier air horns to add to your misery.
It seem that I recall that tires advertised as TT ready were not that great in the snow.

No, that's not me and I hope I didn't leave that impression. Guys used to ice race in Winnipeg where I grew up but they used much longer spikes. I just googled "motorcycle ice racing" to find a shot to add to the thread.
