Mike the Dart works great on the highway I have just come back from a 3,000 ks trip in 2 days riding and just yesturday a 1,000 ks trip, the Dart brakets for the screen bolts to the headlight bolts, so if you need them to make a kit for the Commando is to measure the distant from each side of the headlight brakets, I don't think they would have no problems with making one for the Commando and they are made in England, the kit take less than 5 minutes to mount, I have had mine on my Thruxton for just on 2 years now with well over 22,000 ks and have had no problems with it at all, it keeps the wind off your chest area but still get the breeze in the face just the way I like it.

You could also see about one off of the new Norton 961 Cafe Racer (silver or black)

There is an accessory mainly aimed at BMW owners called the Wunderlich wind deflector. clips on the top of your windscreen to give you an adjustable blade. It looks good but $89 in the States and a cool £90 here in Blighty, what sort of exchange rate is that?

The Dart Fly screen for the older Triumph Bonny will fit a Norton Commando with a little twisting of the mounting brackets.
But it does not really do much aerodynamically. It does look much faster and I'm sure it must keep the flies off if you ever run into them!

Mike,

Yes, the AirTech fairing eliminated the wind pressure on my chest at highway speeds, even while riding straight up. Just a light breeze across my face (it is, after all, a motorcycle). The only adjustments I had to make to mount the fairing involved some slight grinding to accommodate my directional indicator stalks (you may not have this issue with your fastback) and a bit of bending on the mounting struts to match my buckhorns (again, no issue for you). This product should be a direct bolt-on for you. The kit is complete and makes for a very rigid assembly. AirTech customer support was outstanding.

Don't forget the pouch. Image is everything.

Thanks for this.
I just ordered the AirTech AJSM4K kit. I was always looking for a BMW R90S fairing but then I checked this thread. Once I get it fitted I will get the tank/side covers with the new fairing re-painted at the same time. It should work out for better long distance road trips in the near future. 8) I'm using the european bar height so I hope there will not be too much in the way.
Regards,
Tom

Concerning the Dart screen, this was already said but the screen for the Triumph Bonneville is the one to get, The stock brackets will work, if... you rotate the speedo and tach inward until they just about touch. Otherwise you'll have to fabricate some new brackets which clear the instruments when they're in their proper position. I don't think you can bend the stock brackets in a way that will make them fit.

No experience with the small ones, but I have ruin the spitfire screen on my bikes when the temps start getting cold. I'm not a big fan of the looks, but they do work to keep the cold air off your chest. They come off in the spring.

I avoid handlebar mounted fairings. I don't enjoy high speed wobbles. :(
Ok Yella
Which handlebar mounted fairing gave you high speed wobbles? 750 or 850 Commando...we are talking Norton's here, and type of fairing? What speed?
I am interested.
Cheers,

Apparently its only the racey helmet size style screens that bother a Commando as only a very few [that would only fit a cutie pie decorative bikini clocks shielding screen] report that their Cdo's with fork mounted screens upset hands off straightness or even freaked out death grip to stay in control from semi truck blasts but me and almost everyone else in the world on Commando and other cycles have no issue at all on bike behavior from very small to Very Large size going turnpike speeds in close traffic windy conditions. Only downside I've found on little to big fork swiveling screens is they lower mileage and acceleration time to pass and top out speed and are venerable to crash damage and are too hot in full summer heat when most bugs can't even fly.
