Why would anyone use the drain plug to drain the sump?

I do have a one way valve on the oil line, but when it has been a while since I've had the Norton going, I do like to drain the sump since oil does eventually accumulate. It would appear that to remove the magnetic plug would be much simpler and would avoid wear and tear on the drain plug threads. I just want to remove the bulk of the oil in the sump, not every drop. Am I missing something or is the magnetic plug just fine for what I want to do? Thanks, Jim

Someone sells one of the larger drain plugs with a small drain bolt in the centre. Then you can drain your sump without risking any crankcase threads

Or disconect the oil return from the oil tank ,
and run the new oil till it emerges , then refit .

Id always wipe out the inside of the oil tank with a clean rag on a stick ,
or remove & flush it occasionally . So theres no gook build up .

I'm the curious sort and pull the screen about every other oil change just to see if anything has changed inside my aging motor. Then I don't put the gorilla arm to the wrench when tightening either. Magnet just turns up a minute amount of extremely fine material like silt, so not much happening there.
