Is the Aluminum Mikuni 34mm intake manifold (2 into one) that MAP sells a decent manifold?? If not who do you recommend I buy one from???

Hi Mark,
I can't say for sure that it will fit a Mikuni (VM34mm OD=40mm). Check out www.clubmanracing.com click on fuel delivery/carb kits, scroll down. They have a one into two manifold for the Amal MKII carb and it lists for only $56. Give them a call and ask.

I've had one from each. They are different castings, but they didn't seem to differ much internally.

The best intake manifold for the 34mm Mikuni is available from Allens Performance in the UK, and seems to work quite a bit better than similar looking alternatives.

Hi again,
If you go on the Allen's performance website and click on their carb kits, in the photo you can practically read MAP right off the manifold, so I guess they are not selling anything different.
Another thing to consider if buying used is bolt hole spread (carb side). I had purchased my manifold (MAP) from Ebay and didn't realize till later that it was drilled with a two inch spread for Amal carbs. Which is OK unless you plan to use it with a Mikuni as I did. It turns out that from Sudco the bolt on rubber spigot mounts for this type of manifold are like $90 which is 4 times as much as the other style. Fortunately I was able to re-drill it without it looking like a bodge-job.

Pretty limited to what can be done with mono carb manifold. Here's what Drouin looks like 40 mm down to dual 32 outlets.

WTF
little off track logic from a mikuni manifold to a drouin - ahh us boys must show our toys thing eh? (not that i don't think there cool)

Drouin manifold example may be a model that flows better since its cleavage has a clean profile with the fasteners outside. May not be doable for a carb d/t the space for carb to project backwards. Can't see much to improve on off the shelf single carb manifolds, except maybe fill center fastener holes with RTV to streamline.

The manifolds being manufactured now are made in the UK, and seem to work quite a bit better than the MAP type sold formerly.

I emailed them yesterday to see if they would send a picture of one.

Steve maney makes some nice billet manifolds, but only for double carbs. I asked if he had ever made a 2 into 1, and he said no because he only makes things for race application
