Went to start my 850 and it idles fine but when i give it thottle it dosn't sound right. It sputters when i give it thottle and after it warms up i'm getting white smoke out of the right exhaust and the left exhaust seems a little colder. I cleand the plugs and the right did seem a bit more black. This thing runs fine one day and screws me the next. Any suggestions on what the problem may be.

Wadep77 ,It looks like time to spend coin or you could give it to me to work on then like when you get Alzheimers or something I could keep it. Any white smoking indicates valve guide n' seal replacement time or piston rings. Disable oil feed to head as a test. This helps narrow/ locate the prob. Black sooty plugs are too much gas in mix. Take the slides out ,check needles n' clips ,check old floats for gas inside , Fit new Viton tip float needles. Amazing how lack of details leave heads a' scratchin' on our end. Just send me the bike . Now. Today. Oh wait, I'm off to a Norton Rally.

mine has the exact same sputter and smoke on the right side, but it's been sitting since 1991 and has 22k miles on it...i started to tear it down today and noticed the O ring between the carb on that side and the spacer was missing, replaced and put it back together and that side ran A LOT better, but still had smoke, which i think getting past the valves. I'm going the route of the last comment, time to rebuild...
