when was my new ride made

Hi,
New member and new to Nortons..Picked up a titled in 1974 Commando with 5700 actual. Serial number 301499..Can someone tell me when it was made? Thanks and great forum..

my 1972 has "SEP 1971" stamped on the red plate on the frame behind the headlight.
have fun, and ride safely.

Welcome! Yeah, it should say on the plate but I'd say yours was built in August 1973.
 
If the serial number is 301499, I would say it was built in March or April of '73, and is titled as a '74 because it didn't sell until '74.

My 850 is 303061, and was built in 4-73, according to the red plate riveted to the steering head.
