What's In The Box? Quiz.

Give us a video of the install like oNe Mighty garage did with the cNw starter.

Just a FYI to anyone interested, the Alton kit I got came with the following additions with the instructions...

Not sure that tab washer would actually help
You need the nut extremely tight, not just retained

I just installed the Alton on my 73. Pretty straighforward. Starts nicely now! I replaced the gearbox output and crank seals at same time. Plus new Surflex clutch plates. Also added vernier rear and front isoelastics.
I installed the crank nut with loctite and with the retainer. The retainer thickness is quite thin compared to any tabs in the past I have bent to retain nuts. But I used it anyways.
The solenoid is mounted on top of the battery with a bracket. I am not 100% happy with the design because in extreme it could cause a massive short circuit if the solenoid bracket were to move forward and touch the battery negative terminal and at same time contact the bike frame and break through the powder coat. Although this is unlikely, I will fabricate something. Likely a piece of wood to act as an insulator so that the negative terminal cannot be touched.
Do contact me if any questions!

There are rubber covers for solenoid and battery post areas , although I can't provide a link for you . Part source ?
Flying into Van on Aug . 25 . Campbell River after .

Bonzo, thanks for the info. about the additional washers. I had bought an IWIS chain from (then) Andy the chain man, but the chain pins were too close to the windings for comfort so I stayed with the Alton supplied chain. The washers will solve that.

You can see my install thread here, it may be of some help ( especially placing the battery).

I used a Belleville washer on the crankshaft nut as you can see here. So far it seems to be good.
