Let's see what happens to the used 961 market in two years, when all these pcp deals end...the same time the warranties all run out, and people hand them back rather than stump up the £12k+ to clear the balance.

Two comments on that:

1) It’ll be a GREAT time to be in the market for buying a used 961.
2) Motorvated Ltd have got 2 years to start planning for some serious expansion !

Fair enough Stu but, for those with 961’s that are ‘keepers’, any (temporary) second hand price drop is a non issue right? It’s no more than conjecture that a large number of PCP bikes will be returned - or will the vast majority keep them; the last of their type.

If you’re a 961 owner of any vintage planning to sell, then you’d have to be daft to choose the period over which PCP deals were coming to an end. Any drop in prices will likely be temporary, whilst those looking to purchase will likely snap up any deals resulting from PCP resale. Don’t see it being a big issue IMO.

There are plenty of Ducati dealers out there Stu, but specialising in the older bikes could make good sense.

MV is a great choice as dealers are so sparse, the bikes tend to be owned by very enthusiastic / particular owners, and there are a lot of older bikes out there.

I suspect CCM might be a bit of a minefield personally.

A sift through FB will show you it’s not conjecture. Quite a number of PCP customers have entered into this with the mindset of ‘two years cheap fun then hand it back’.

Exactly how many will do so is, of course, not known. But the PCP deals put over 200 bikes out there. In 961 terms, that is a LOT. Even if only half return them, that’s still a heck of a used supply spike for the market to contend with.

So look on the bright side peeps, anyone thinking of buying a 2 year old, low mileage 961 will enjoy a buyers market in 2 years time.

Ironically, there is an MV dealer in walking distance from my house.
No local Ducati dealer, it closed its doors just before Christmas....but I'd be looking towards the older stuff anyhow.
CCM is similar, imo, to 961s....small niche stuff, with very little aftersales support. They used to have a mobile guy come to your address for servicing, but they dropped that last year.

I read the same FB site as you know FE and there isn’t a large number talking about definitely handing them back that I can see. Even then, who knows how they are going to feel in two years - things change.

They were never getting your money FE😉, then they were getting it but the bike was definitely getting handed back after two years - you’ve since indicated that might not be the case? As I say - things change.

Obviously some will hand back, but my guess is it will not be the large number you guys are indicating. Enough to affect the second hand market? Likely. To what extent and for how long is anybody’s guess.

Yep, things change. I suppose then predictions that large numbers of PCP bikes will flood the market after two years may indeed be just conjecture. But hey, it may well occur. Time will tell.
 
I have heard mixed 'handback' stories on car PCP deals; some go without problem, others lead to very expensive bills to 'correct' normal wear and tear back to 'as new' condition. I wonder how this would go with an alloy-draped 961? 'Those exhaust headers don't look as shiny as when delivered, sir'

Personally, I’d be surprised if they do owt daft, they’re a big and well established vehicle finance house and I can’t see them wanting to damage their own, or Norton’s, reputations.

As such, I think it a great idea to have a go at CCM machines.
There are no dealers anywhere near me.
Unfortunately, neither are you.

That looks cool. Which variant is it?
 
The 961 purchase deals appear to have morphed again. Different PCP deal and an Advanced Payment Plan option.

They clearly intend to try and turn more over, at greater profit. Up to 31 Mar 25 only - no doubt they’ll extend again if they continue to sell. Bit of a pill to swallow now though, if you missed the initial PCP deal.

👍 To those guys that got in early! 👍!
